The end! :(

AMAZON-1 2017 has ended! :(
After some awesome days together in Amazon, the trip has ended. The trip was a success! We would like to thank all the exchange students, as well as our Coordinator, monitors, Chaperones, guides, drivers and suppliers! Also, a big thanks to Rotary International, families and host families and officers!
Let the Amazon-2 begins!

AMAZÔNIA-1 2017 acabou! :(

Após alguns dias incríveis na Amazônia, a viagem chegou ao fim. A viagem foi um sucesso! Gostaríamos de agradecer todos os intercambistas, assim como nossa Coordenação, monitores, Chaperones, guias, motoristas e fornecedores! Um agradecimento especial também ao Rotary Internacional, as famílias naturais e anfitriãs e aos Oficiais!

Que comece a Amazônia-2!

Day 08 - Botos! / Pink dolphins!

Enfim chegou o dia de nadar com os botos cor de rosa! Foi muito legal ficamos a manhã toda nadando com eles e tirando fotos para mostrar para todo mundo! Eles são muito fofinhos e nos deixaram fazer carinho neles, pareciam cachorros na água!
De tarde fomos para a vila de São Tomé e tivemos tempo livre; o pessoal que perdeu no futebol quis uma revanche e os jovens da vila também jogaram. Foi muito divertido!
No jantar tivemos um churrasco surpresa para nós e aproveitamos para dançar e nos divertir.

At last the day of swimming with the pink dolphins arrived! It was really cool; we spent the whole morning swimming with them and taking pictures to show everyone! They are very cute and let us cuddle them, it looked like water dogs! In the afternoon we went to the village of São Tomé and had free time; the people who lost the football match wanted a rematch and the youth of the village also played. It was very funny! At dinner we had a surprise barbecue for us and we enjoyed dancing and having fun.

Day 07 - Nascer do Sol! / Sunrise!

Hoje acordamos muito cedo para poder ver o nascer do sol no rio, foi lindo e tiramos várias fotos! Depois tomamos um café da manhã muito bom e saímos para a vila de Acajatuba onde tivemos um campeonato de futebol na lama! Todo mundo ficou sujo e fomos tomar banho no rio para limpar o barro antes do almoço.
Depois do almoço fomos para uma pescaria de piranhas muito engraçada e aproveitamos para ver macacos e dar banana para eles! No começo da noite, nossos guias pegaram filhotes de jacarés para nós tirarmos fotos com eles. Foi um dia muito divertido e todo mundo ficou bem cansado!

Today we woke up very early to be able to see the sunrise on the river, it was beautiful and we took several photos! Afterwards we had a very good breakfast and went out to the village of Acajatuba where we had a football championship in the mud! Everyone got dirty and we went to bath in the river to clean the clay before lunch.

After lunch we went to a fishery of piranhas very funny and we took advantage to see monkeys and give bananas to them! In the early evening, our guides picked up alligator pups so we took pictures with them. It was a very fun day and everyone got tired!

Day 05 - Encontro das águas! / Meeting of the waters!

Hoje a gente acordou bem cedo,  tinha que tomar café da manhã para sair para uma aventura de barco pela qual a gente estava muito ansioso. No caminho para o barco foi muito engraçado, pois todo mundo andava entre a areia com as malas e caixas com alguns lanches e garrafas de água. A gente foi de barco pela floresta e começamos a viagem pelo meio da Amazônia onde nos vimos as duas cores da água onde os rios se encontraram; no barco estávamos mortos de calor, ouvindo música, brincando e jogando cartas. A Laura nos ensinou como jogar "cidade dorme" e foi muito massa, a gente gostou desse jogo.

Depois almoçamos e visitamos uma aldeia onde conhecemos mais da cultura amazônica com uma tribo de nativos chamada o tucano, nos ensinaram danças e tradições, os meninos da tribo pintaram nossas caras como eles.

E tivemos a oportunidade de dançar com eles e até comemos formigas que na verdade estavam muito boas.

Foi uma experiência muito boa, a gente teve a oportunidade de refletir sobre a nossa vida comparada a deles.

A gente voltou para o barco e os meninos ficaram num barco diferente ao das meninas já que tomaríamos banho e arrumamos tudo para dormir.

Para terminar o dia a gente jantou e teve a reunião onde falaram o que a gente faria amanhã.

Acho que o dia de hoje foi ainda mais legal do que ontem e tenho certeza do que amanhã será ainda melhor.

Today we had to wake up early. After a quick breakfast and checking out of the hotel we moved to the boat were we are going to stay for the rest of our trip, which we were all excited about. Our walk to the boat was pretty funny because we all had a lot of luggage, snacks and water to carry. On the boat we started our trip on the Amazon river. We saw the point where the two rivers in diferent colours meet. On the boat we were dying because of the heat, listening to music, having fun and playing cards. Tía Laura showed us how to play "the city sleeps", which was really fun, we all liked it a lot.

After lunch we visited an Amazonian native tribe, the tucanos, who showed us their culture. We learned some of their dances and traditions. The natives painted our faces and we took a lot of pictures with them.

We also had the opportunity to dance with them and eat some ants, which actually tasted pretty good.

It was an awesome experience that made us reflect our way of living compared to theirs.

When we got back, the boys and girls went to two different boats, to shower and prepare the hammocks we sleep in. To end the day we all had dinner together and after that a meeting to discuss the next day.

I think this day was even better than the one before and Im sure the next one will be more amazing.

 

Day 06- Na selva! / In the jungle!

Hoje o café da manhã foi às 7:30 pelo que a gente acordou mais cedo para nós aprontar, comemos muito pois o dia seria muito longo para todos nós! Fomos para um curso de sobrevivência na Amazônia com ex-militares das Forças Especiais da Selva (CIGS) que nos ensinaram como fazer fogo, conseguir água, fazer redes para pegar peixes, aves e animais da terra mais selvagens; a gente também atravessou uma mata para chegar ao curso, e foi muito legal e engraçado. No caminho a gente viu um bicho-preguiça e uma criança em uma lancha que subiu em uma árvore gigante, ele nos falou que tínhamos que segurar o bichinho com muita precaução e tranquilos para que não machucássemos ele; mais ele machucou mais a nós com umas garras muito grandes que eles têm.
Juntos a gente almoçou umas frutas exóticas e especiais da Amazônia; eu goste muito do cupuaçu e também de um peixe gostoso demais!
Voltando para casa-barco a gente nadou no rio para limpar nossas roupas. De noite olhamos as estrelas.

Today we took breakfast at 7:30 and we had to eat a lot because we went on a survival course with some veterans of the special Amazonian rangers (CIGS). They teached us how to make tramps for birds, fishes and wild animals. We also learned how to make fire and get water. It's was amazing!
On the way back we found a sloth and Samuel (guide) had to climb the tree in order to catch it. He said it was the tallest tree he ever climbed. He told us to hold him correctly in order to don't get harmed by it. They have really big claws. At the jungle we ate exotic Amazonian fruits and they tasted really really good and also a fish that tasted excellent.

On the way back we swam in the river to wash our clothes. At night we saw the night sky full of stars.

Day 04 - Manaus

Hoje nós tivemos um dia cheio! Acordamos cedo para tomar um café da manhã muito bom no nosso hotel. Depois saímos do nosso ônibus para conhecer o Teatro Municipal de Manaus, que foi feito na época da borracha.

Depois fomos para o Mercado Municipal de Manaus onde compramos muitos presentes e coisas legais. Tivemos o almoço e de tarde fomos para um parque chamado INPA onde vimos animais e coisas da Amazônia.

No final da tarde todo mundo estava cansado e com calor e aí fomos para o hotel onde aproveitamos a piscina! Agora está todo mundo aproveitando o nosso hotel e se divertindo!

Today we had a full day! We woke up early to eat a very good breakfast at our hotel. Then we left on our bus to visit the Municipal Theater of Manaus, which was made during the rubber season.

Later we went to the Municipal Market of Manaus where we bought many gifts and cool things. We had lunch and in the afternoon we went to a park called INPA where we saw animals and things from the Amazon.

In the late afternoon everyone was tired and hot and then we went to the hotel where we enjoyed the pool! Now everyone is enjoying our hotel and having fun!

Day 03 - Manaus

Hoje foi um dia muito legal; acordamos às 6 horas para aprontar nossas malas já que tinham que estar no ônibus às 7 horas; fomos tomar o café da manhã no restaurante do hotel para depois continuar com uma maravilhosa jornada; levamos 45 minutos para chegar ao zoológico CIGS e no ônibus foi muito bom porque alguns cantaram muito, dançaram, brincamos e inclusive dormimos.

Ao chegar ao zoológico nós descemos muito rápido porque estávamos muito animados; lá vimos macacos, tucanos, jacarés, papagaios e araras, entre outros animais da região onde aproveitamos para tirar muitas fotos, curtir muito e passar um dia muito legal e especial já que tinham militares que tiraram fotos com a gente depois de comer um rico picolé.

Ao meio dia aproveitamos para fazer compras já que passaremos 4 dias em um barco pelo rio Amazonas; foi muito engraçado estar no mercado já que fazíamos brincadeiras ao escolher nossa comida. Além disso fomos para o shopping para comprar nosso almoço e fazer compras nas lojas mais conhecidas.

Ao terminar no shopping fomos direito para o hotel para entrar na piscina e nadar um pouco antes de nos arrumar para nossa janta onde tivemos surpresas da região: ao chegar no restaurante comemos coisas muito boas, na maioria peixes, frutas da região e mais, enquanto nós comíamos chegaram pessoas para dançar e foi maravilhoso, amamos as danças e quando eles dançaram convidaram a gente para dançar com eles; tiramos muitas fotos e desfrutamos de nossa festa.

Ao chegar ao hotel fomos para o restaurante porque cantamos Parabéns para os aniversariantes​ do viagem; cantamos Parabéns em muitas línguas. Depois fomos todos dormir já que todos estávamos cansados e esperamos que amanhã seja um dia ainda mais maravilhoso!

Today was a very good day; we woke up at 6am for getting ready with our suitcases because we had to be ready at 7am, so then we went to take breakfast at the restaurant of the hotel, and then we would continue and have an amazing day, then we took 45mins to arrive on our first parade "the zoo" and the journey was very fun and we interact a lot with each other because many people start singing and playing but at the bottom we finished sleeping.

When we arrive to "the zoo" we said that the time passed too fast because we were so anxious, there we saw monkeys, tucanos, aligators, parrots, araras and more animals of the region where all of us enjoyed and approached to took a lot of photos, so then we spent a very nice, fun and comfortable time having more than a great and special day. Also there were military officers and we took photos together but during that time we ate a delicious ice cream.

In the midday we went to a shopping mall to have lunch and to do shopping, and after it we went straight to the hotel, went to swim a little bit and got ourselves ready for the dinner.

 

Day 02 - Balbina

A gente tomou café de manhã às 7h no hotel em Presidente Figueiredo e às 8h nós fomos visitar um conservatório em Balbina - Projeto de Quelônios.
Nós conhecemos os peixe-boi, tartarugas e araras... Nós aprendemos como caçar os peixe-boi e a importância dessa espécie para a cadeia alimentar porque eles são uma espécie em perigo de extinção. Depois o pessoal foi almoçar perto de uma represa e tinha uma comida muito boa! A gente almoçou uns bolinhos de peixe, peixe frito, mandioca frita e óbvio arroz e feijão. Depois nadamos ao lado da represa...
De tarde o pessoal foi para a Cachoeira do Santuário onde a gente brincou, pulou e tirou muitas fotos!
Às 17h todos voltamos ao hotel e brincamos mais um pouco na piscina; jogamos futebol até o jantar.
Depois do jantar, tivemos um show de ballet folclórico típico da Amazônia, e foi muito divertido! E depois do show todo mundo dançou junto com os dançarinos!
Esse foi o nosso segundo dia da incrível viagem da AMAZÔNIA!

We had breakfast at the hotel in Presidente Figueiredo at 7AM this morning; at 8AM we went out on a visit at Balbina's conservatory - Chelonians Project.
We met the manatee, turtles and araras... We discovered how to hunt the manatee and the importance of this specie to the food chain, as they're one of the species that run the risk of extinction. After that, everyone went to have lunch next a dam - the food was delicious! We had fish rolls, fried fish, fried manioc and obviously, rice and beans for lunch. After lunch, we swam next to the dam...
In the afternoon, everyone went to the Santuário's Waterfall, wehere we played together, jumped and took many photos! At 5PM, we all came back to the hotel and had a little more fun at the pool; we played soccer until dinner. After dinner we had a foclorik ballet show (typical of Amazon) and it was really fun! After the show everyone danced together with the dancers!
This was our second day of the amazing AMAZON trip!

Day 01 - Presidente Figueiredo

Hoje, 9 de Maio de 2017, começou oficialmente a viagem Amazônia-1. Começamos a aventura com um passeio na floresta Amazônica à tarde. O passeio consistiu principalmente na visita em uma caverna e duas cachoeiras maravilhosas, típicas da Amazônia. A caraterística principal das cachoeiras é a cor delas: amarela, laranja e preta por causa dos minerais que a terra deixa sair. A atração principal foi a trilha debaixo de uma chuva bem forte que nos ajudou a nos refrescar. A gente teve a oportunidade de conhecer a maior folha da Amazônia, com quase 2 metros de altura, mais alta do que uma pessoa.
Depois desse passeio cansativo e longo combinamos de ir para uma cachoeira perto do hotel, mas por causa de mais uma chuva tivemos que voltar para o hotel e aproveitamos a piscina para descansar do passeio até a noite.

Today, May 9th, our trip in the Amazon officially started. We started our adventure with a walk through the forest this afternoon. The walk was to see two beautiful waterfalls and a cave, typical to the Amazon region. The waterfalls have a dark yellowish orange color because of the minerals in the regions dirt. The main attraction was the trail under a heavy rain, that kept us from overheating. We had the opportunity to see some of the biggest leaves in the Amazon, almost two meters long, bigger than a person!

After the long and tiring walk, we got together to go to another waterfall close to our hotel, but because of the heavy rain we could not go, and had to return to the hotel to rest and enjoy the pool until dinner.
